So much for this blogging thing.....
As much as I try to tell myself that I have a blog and that I should post some stuff in it, I find that I rarely do. Just checked in today, and it has been over a year since my last post.
Must try harder.....

Missing my co-workers
The group I worked in was hit by downsizing and 3 of my co-workers were release on 6/24. I've worked with these guys for 10 years and I miss seeing them on a daily basis.

Sports shooting has it's dangers
One of my passions in photography is sport action shots. I have been running a side business for almost 5 years now and I'm happy with what I have produced thus far. Baseball is by far my favorite as it allows for shots of a single player doing his/her own thing.
Baseball comes with it's own challenges. The picture above shows why you always have to pay attention to where the ball is. This shot missed me by about a foot. Although the players in this division were 12 and under the ball was moving fast enough to hurt ya and more scary to me...break my gear. Yeah, I saw it coming and yes I was moving to protect myself and my gear.
Keep you eye on the ball, even if your not playing.

A little information can be priceless
Call it what you want. Pay it forward, helping others, doing the right thing, or knowing that something good may come from the good that you do. I have a friend who is learning photography and has been taking pictures of family events and asked me to come out and shoot with him. The equipment that he currently uses wasn’t getting him the results he wanted and he wanted some tips (although I am far from a professional….at least in my opinion) on how he could get better images.
I met him and we shared notes and talked about what his problems were and what might fix them. We were shooting indoors and we talked about how important lighting was indoors as opposed to being outside with tons of natural light. We both shot a little and then we swapped lenses and he shot with my 70-200 2.8 lens. He was happy to see that his images were brighter (his current lens was a 5.6 at over 200 mm) and that he could boost the shutter speed a little more. He learned a lot that day and I’m glad that I can hopefully point him in the right direction. So, he’s invested in a better camera and a new lens. I know that his pictures will get better and that he will get the images he wants.
Pictures are a frozen moment in time and those of family and friends can be priceless to those who take them. So, a little of my knowledge (and I still try to learn everyday) just may have been what he needed to produce something that will be valuable memory of a moment in time.
Share your knowledge; it may produce a priceless gift.
